How to crochet a simple pincushion – pattern

I crocheted this lovely pincushion yesterday and I’d like to share the pattern with you. If you make one, I would love to see your work so please share! 🦄

What you need:

– 3mm hook (or a hook adapted to your yarn)

– About 15g of cotton thread, perfect to do with leftover thread

– Toy filling

– Darning needle

– Optional: button for the eyes and brown felt seal for the nose.

Abbreviations:

Sc: single crochet

Inc: increment stitch

Inv dec: invisible decrease
How it works:

Round 0: magic circle

Round 1: 6 Sc

Round 2: Inc around, {12}

Round 3: Inc, 1 Sc {18}

Round 4: Inc, 2 Sc {24}

Round 5: Inc, 3 Sc {30}

Round 6: Inc, 4 Sc {36}

Round 7: Inc, 5 Sc {42}

Round 8: Inc, 6 Sc {48}

Round 9 to 12: Sc around

Round 13: Inv dec, 6 Sc {42}

Round 14: Inv dec, 5 Sc {36}

Round 15: Inv dec, 4 Sc {30}

Round 16: Inv dec, 3 Sc {24}

Round 17: Inv dec, 2 Sc {18}

Stuff the cushion

Round 18: Inv dec, 1 Sc {12}

Round 19: Inv dec around {6}

Fasten and weave if need be.

You can then add buttons and brown felt if you want to make an animal, or you can leave empty if you prefer a more simple design.

It’s as easy as that!
